A loss prevention officer was injured during a shoplifting incident over the weekend.

It happened late Saturday morning at the Walmart on County Road 6.

According to our reporting partners at ABC-57, a male was pushing a loaded shopping cart towards the exit door, carrying a duffle bag.

A loss prevention officer attempted to grab the bag from the suspect when the suspect struck the officer on the side of his head.

The hit caused the officer to fall, hitting his head on the concrete.

The suspect then ran off with several stolen items. The loss prevention officer was taken to the hospital.

So far no arrests have been made at this time. Police say the suspect was last seen in a black, four-door passenger vehicle.
