South Bend offers new program to help schools, organizations install solar panels

The City of South Bend has launched a new program to help local nonprofits, schools, and other community organizations to install solar panels and make energy efficiency upgrades.

The Energy Assistance and Solar Savings Initiative program will allow nonprofits, schools, libraries, medical facilities, grocery stores, and churches to apply for a free energy assessment, grant funding for improvements, and optional low interest lending.

The program can also help organizations make contact with pre-qualified contractors and help with project management.

To learn more about eligibility and how to apply, visit southbendin.gov/eassi.

Staff from the Office of Sustainability will host a webinar on the program on Monday, January 24 at 10 a.m. which can be accessed by visiting southbendin.gov/eassiwebinar.

More grift from the party of grift. If solar was such a wonderful and effective energy source, why does it need subsidies and free loans from the government to get installed? It seems like it would be an easy decision to choose it.

Or maybe it’s not really so wonderful, and the only way this broken technology gets installed is by throwing government money at it. Why is this so important to the government of South Bend? Who profits from it? Follow the money.

South Bend should probably use this money for hiring more police and reducing their crime rate. Then again, Democrats like dead voters… They are reliable!
