The Michigan Senate has passed bills related to dyslexia and education.

The four bill package moved through the State Senate Wednesday, and is aimed at helping students who show signs of being dyslexic.

Schools would be required to screen students for characteristics of dyslexia using a universal assessment, and provide tiered support to students who show traits. Students who don’t receive help run the risk of falling behind.

Teachers would also be required to pass specific training. The bills now move on to The House.
