MonoSol strike ends in LaPorte with new contract

A strike in LaPorte has ended with union workers at MonoSol voting for a new four-year contract.

Workers will report back to work at the LaPorte plant on January 3.

WVPE reports that those workers will still receive holiday pay from the company for Christmas and New Year’s.

The union workers chose to strike because their contract allowed the company to continue forcing them to work overtime, sometimes as many as 60 hours per week. MonoSol had said most employees took the overtime voluntarily.
