Over $3.5 million is going to communities in Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties for their participation in marijuana sales.

The Michigan Department of Treasury will be distributing a total of $59.5 million to 224 cities, townships and counties across the state.

Each city will receive $51,841.21 per licensed marijuana retail business, with an additional $51,841.21 going to each county government per business.

In Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties, there is a total of 34 licensed marijuana retailers, meaning $3,525,202.28 will be distributed locally.

State Treasurer Rachel You-Banks says that a partnership allows dollars received from the adult-use marijuana taxes and fees to be distributed to participating communities.
