Michiana Crime Stoppers is celebrating its most successful month in the program’s nearly 40-year history.
In March, Michiana Crime Stoppers surpassed all-time program records for cases, arrests and rewards. The organization recorded 54 cases, assisted in 34 arrests and authorized more than $10,000 in rewards.
Michiana Crime Stoppers serves 13 counties in Indiana and Michigan, working with local law enforcement agencies and media outlets to offer an anonymous tip program for community members to provide information about felony crimes and fugitives.
During the past four decades the local Crime Stoppers organization has authorized more than $1.2 million dollars in rewards.
Rewards are funded entirely by corporate sponsorships and donations. Michiana Crime Stoppers’ largest fundraiser is the Spring Shredding Event, which is set for this Saturday, April 15, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the St. Joseph County Fairgrounds.
