Bills seek to give sexual assault victims more time to speak out

(95.3 MNC)

There’s legislation in the Michigan House to help survivors of sexual assault.

That’s according to WSJM who says State Representative Julie Brixie sponsored bills that would create a two-year survival window for survivors whose statute of limitations has already expired.

After the Larry Nassar case, legislators acted, though it was not enough.

However, Brixie says the bills would extend the age of a survivor in civil court from 28 to 52, and she says 52 is the average age for childhood sexual assault survivors to come forward.
