Elkhart man sentenced to prison time after shooting girlfriend, himself

An Elkhart man accused of shooting himself and his girlfriend earlier this year was sentenced to prison time.

With 12 years suspended, 29-year-old Navneet Singh faces 25 years of prison time.

In April,  Singh allegedly told officers that he shot his girlfriend and then shot himself, and according to the Goshen News, Singh reportedly told medics that his goal had been to kill his girlfriend.

His girlfriend faced injuries on the front of her face near and was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital.

Texts between his girlfriend and a family member revealed that Singh had kept the victim confined in her bedroom at the home, allegedly pointing a gun at her and threatening to shoot her if cops arrived.
