Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County is mourning the death of former First Lady Rosalynn Carter.
The organization issued a statement on Monday, expressing their deep sorrow on the former First Lady’s passing, calling Carter “a champion and strong voice for affordable, decent housing for all.”
CEO Jim Williams said her death was “a loss being felt by millions around the world and certainly throughout our local Habitat affiliate.”
President Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter came to St. Joseph County in 2018 for a local Habitat for Humanity work project.
Carter died in her Georgia home on Sunday with her family by her side. She was 96.
