South Bend police officer struck by vehicle on U.S. 20 bypass

A South Bend police officer was struck by a vehicle while responding to a collision on the U.S. 20 bypass.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, on the highway between Ironwood Road and Michigan Street.

The officer was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities say all parties involved remained on-scene.

St. Joseph County FACT is leading the investigation.
