A charity based in Buchanan has awarded more than 100 thousand dollars to local groups.
The Michigan Gateway Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees voted Monday to distribute about $108,000 to several groups in their surrounding area.
ABC 57 reports that the largest grant was $30,000 for new signs from the Buchanan District Library, courtesy of two different library funds. The Buchanan Police, schools, and even tree planting efforts are among the recipients, as are the YMCA, a nature preserve, and The Salvation Army.
The Michigan Gateway Community Foundation was founded in 1978 and serves southern Berrien and Cass Counties.
