Bicentennial Bridge repairs may take until end of week

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)
It may be until the end of next week before repairs are completed to the Bicentennial Bridge connecting the City of St. Joseph to Benton Harbor.
The bridge currently cannot be raised and is secured in a lowered position. Vessels that can safely pass under the bridge in the lowered position may do so at any time, however, taller vessels that need the bridge to open cannot pass through.
The bridge remains open to vehicle traffic. According to the Harbormaster, M-DOT will be using a contracted company to help them replace a hydraulic cylinder used to raise and lower the bridge.
At this point, work is expected to be finished by Friday, April 19.
