New progress has been made on the railroad overpass at Hively Avenue and Main Street in Elkhart, but there are still funding and other concerns.
WSBT reports that Elkhart officials want the overpass to ease traffic congestion and improve safety, and the project has been discussed for more than a decade. Three buildings have already been demolished to make room for the overpass project.
The city is waiting to hear about a federal grant application, a second attempt after the first was denied in April. Local and state funding is also being sought.
