A renovation project on Franklin St. in Michigan City will link commercial and retail space to a proposed city plaza.

First-floor spaces ranging in sizes from 860 to 1800 soiree feet will be leased at the spot and will bring an area for public gatherings, including concerts, festivals and shows.

The project will include a complete renovation of the spaces, including work on water and sewage, electric components, roofing, windows and HVAC.

The building’s owner says he envisions the development bolstering business opportunities downtown.
