Cold weather doesn’t mean ticks are gone. In the past month, nine dogs in Fulton County have tested positive for Lyme disease.
The Fulton County Animal Center took in 21 dogs last month, with nine testing positive for Lyme disease and four for heartworm.
The center director, who has been there nearly a decade, called the number of positive cases shocking but said they have been rising each year.
