The St. Joseph County Police Department is stepping up enforcement along State Road 2 and U.S. 20 in response to growing traffic concerns linked to the new Amazon facility.

Residents have reported increased speeding, frequent crashes, and difficulty accessing their driveways due to congestion in the area. In response, Sheriff Bill Redman announced that beginning Monday morning, the department will reallocate resources to boost police presence along the affected roadways. Officers will actively monitor traffic and pull over drivers violating the law.

Beyond enforcement, the department is also collaborating with the St. Joseph County Engineer, INDOT, and Amazon to address long-term traffic safety solutions.

“We recognize the impact this situation is having on our community, and we are committed to making these roads safer,” Sheriff Redman said.
