A man wanted on multiple domestic violence-related charges has been arrested after authorities found him hiding in a basement on Monday.
Chad Raptis, 30, was taken into custody by the St. Joseph County Warrants Team with assistance from the Traffic Division. Officers located Raptis in the 52000 block of Forestbrook Avenue, where he was discovered concealed under various items in a basement.
Raptis had active warrants for failing to appear in court on several charges, including felony strangulation, felony domestic battery with a prior conviction, and misdemeanor domestic battery.
In addition to the outstanding charges, Raptis now faces a new preliminary charge of invasion of privacy for allegedly violating a protective order. That charge has been forwarded to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
Raptis was booked into the St. Joseph County Jail following his arrest.
