A Benton Harbor man has pleaded guilty to identity theft charges related to incidents almost two years ago.

Leader Publications says 23-year-old Tyshon Newman pleaded guilty to three counts of identity theft and possession with intent to deliver forged or counterfeit ID cards in connection to incidents that happened around the county in late 2023.

Newman’s attorney said he made poor decisions and hopefully can turn his life around, and Newman apologized for and took responsibility for his actions.

He was sentenced to two years probation in the Swift & Sure Sanctions Program and 300 days in jail.
