Police arrested a 22-year-old man in Bloomington who tried dragging a 7-year-old girl into the men’s bathroom at a movie theatre.
According to the Bloomington Police Department, the attempted kidnapping happened Friday evening at the AMC theatre located on W. Third Street.
Officials say two young girls exited the bathroom when Thomas Stinson grabbed one by the arm and tried dragging them into the men’s restroom. Investigators added that the girl began screaming with Stinson trying to cover her mouth. The girl was able to escape and run to the movie theatre lobby with her friend.
Police were then able to locate Stinson in the theatre parking lot. He was with a caregiver, who said that Stinson has developmental disabilities. Officers determined that Stinson understood right from wrong and could communicate clearly.
Stinson was then arrested and faces preliminary charges of kidnapping and battery.
