The State of Indiana is formally requesting federal assistance to recover from a period of severe storms, widespread flooding, and multiple tornadoes that impacted communities between March 30 and April 9.

Governor Eric Holcomb’s office announced today that a request for a presidential disaster declaration has been submitted to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The disaster event, which spanned over ten days, saw significant damage across various counties, including destruction caused by several confirmed tornadoes.

Governor Holcomb’s request urges FEMA to recommend the declaration to the White House, a move that would unlock crucial federal resources for affected areas.

Hoosiers impacted by the late March and early April severe weather are encouraged to document their damage and apply for state assistance through the designated state portals while the federal request is under review.
