A 35-year-old man was arrested late Monday night following a domestic altercation at a home on Maple Court, during which shots were fired. Goshen Police responded just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, to the 400 block of Maple Court after reports of a physical dispute and gunfire.
Upon arrival, officers found a 39-year-old male victim standing in the roadway with visible injuries to his face and complaints of pain. The victim, however, declined medical treatment. Authorities later identified the suspect as Shane Angel, who was inside the residence and initially refused to exit for over two hours.
Police discovered evidence indicating that a firearm had been discharged during the altercation. Fortunately, no one was injured by the gunfire, and no further injuries were reported from the incident.
Angel was ultimately taken into custody and charged with Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon and Domestic Battery in the Presence of a Minor. He is currently being held at the Elkhart County Jail.
