Home, vehicles heavily damaged by fire

Fire heavily damaged a home and several vehicles on Glenwood Avenue late Wednesday afternoon, drawing firefighters from five departments in St. Joseph and Elkhart counties.
Crews arrived just before 5 p.m. as flames spread through the house and garage.
Nearly 30 firefighters worked to bring the fire under control. Everyone inside got out safely, but two cats died.
Smoke from the fire was visible for miles.
Investigators are working to determine the cause and are coordinating with the homeowners and their insurance company.
