Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita’s office released a statement Tuesday following the dismissal of his lawsuit against the St. Joseph County Police Department and Sheriff Bill Redman.

Rokita accused the department of enforcing “sanctuary” policies and refusing to work with federal immigration officials. A spokesperson for the Attorney General said the office remains committed to enforcing state laws that bar local governments from limiting cooperation with ICE.

They added that Rokita’s office is reviewing the court’s decision and “will take all appropriate steps to keep Hoosiers safe.”
