Community Police Review Board declines action on viral arrest in South Bend

The South Bend Community Police Review Board will not move forward on a police encounter from last summer involving a 14-year-old girl.
Body camera video shows an officer holding the teenager down during an arrest at a McDonald’s. Police reviewed the incident and said the officer followed department rules.
The review board talked about the case Thursday but did not get enough votes to push back on that decision. Four members disagreed with police.
One agreed, two chose not to vote, and two seats were empty or members were not present.
The board had to cancel its last two meetings because too few members showed up.
