Businesses in Indiana could face fines for hiring workers living in the country without legal permission under a new law set to take effect on July 1.
Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita said they are cracking down on labor trafficking in the construction industry.
The law, known as Senate Enrolled Act 76, would penalize businesses that employ workers without legal permission and requires cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Yes, my social security number was compromised and given to an illegal worker at a Elkhart County factory. I was notified by the social security office that it had happened because I’ve been disabled and hadn’t worked in the last years! But my social security number showed up at the IRS for earning income in 2024, it’s been a big problem in Elkhart County for decades……
Good! This needs to be law across the entire country
