The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-1 tornado touched down near Plymouth in Marshall County during Thursday night’s severe weather outbreak.

According to storm survey teams, the tornado produced peak winds estimated at 90 miles per hour.

The tornado developed near King Road south of 8A Road, where it uprooted and snapped several trees and damaged a barn. As it tracked northeast, the tornado overturned a center-pivot irrigation system and caused additional tree damage before crossing 8A Road.

Officials said the tornado dissipated shortly after causing significant damage to another barn north of 8A Road.

The National Weather Service also identified additional storm damage elsewhere in Marshall County, though investigators believe much of that damage was caused by straight-line winds. Survey crews continue to examine damage east of Argos to determine whether a separate weak tornado may have occurred there.
