Indiana’s unemployment rate remained at 3.3% in June, continuing to outperform the national rate of 4.2%, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

The state’s labor force participation rate was 63.2%, well above the national average of 61.5%. Indiana’s labor force totaled 3,491,269 people in June.

Private employment increased by 1,800 jobs from May, bringing total private-sector employment to 2,843,400.

The largest monthly job gains were reported in private educational and health services, which added 1,800 jobs. Construction and trade, transportation and utilities each gained 1,700 jobs, while financial activities added 1,500 jobs.

As of July 1, more than 100,000 job openings were posted across Indiana. For the week ending July 4, the state reported 18,023 continued unemployment insurance claims.
