Kids at Mishawaka schools are missing out on today’s solar eclipse, but it wasn’t because of a test or some form of punishment.

Instead, it was for safety reasons. The School City of Mishawaka district bought eclipse glasses so students could watch the roughly 86-percent totality that Michiana gets to see.

However, hours before the eclipse, the district withdrew the glasses, saying that Amazon notified the district that the glasses may not be certified safe. Amazon stated that it did not receive confirmation from the manufacturer that the glasses were indeed safe.
