Eau Claire approves growing, but not selling, marijuana in town

Another Berrien County town has approved an ordinance in accordance with Michigan’s marijuana laws.

Monday evening, Eau Claire village leaders said they would allow at least one marijuana growing and processing center to operate in the town.

However, due to concerns over security and law enforcement resources, they will not allow a dispensary to operate in town. This is in contrast to what Niles and Buchanan have decided about those businesses.

Eau Claire says they anticipate receiving 3-percent of the profits, on top of about $5,000 dollars for the business license.

Michigan begins offering the licenses at the beginning of next year.
