Close call prompts South Bend family to warn of “stranger danger”

A family in South Bend says their daughter was nearly lured away in a case of “stranger danger” near their home.

The family says it happened in the alley behind their home on Clover Street in the River Park neighborhood, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

The  family’s 9 year-old daughter was collecting the empty garbage can and a man was there in a small red car, ABC 57 reported.

The man allegedly told their daughter he had lost his dog, and wanted her to help him look for it. The girl dropped the trash can and ran to the front of the house to get someone. By the time an adult went around to the back, the car was was gone, ABC 57 reported.

The family reported the attempt to the police, who say there have not been any similar reports filed in South Bend, ABC 57 reported.
