Art Van Furniture has announced that they will close all of their stores, and will begin a liquidation sale Friday at all of their company-owned stores.

However, the future of the Grape Road location, which opened in 2014, is unknown. That store is franchise-owned, and not part of the larger corporation.

An Art Van Furniture company spokesperson says every effort to avoid shutting down their stores, but the company has become a victim of “a challenging retail environment.”

Art Van Furniture has locations in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Missouri. The company, based in Detroit, was sold to a private equity firm three years ago.

They’re expected to file for bankruptcy protection next week.
