Woman, 93, killed in crash at Ironwood and State Road 23 in South Bend

An elderly woman was killed in a crash in South Bend.

The collision happened around 3 :10 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Ironwood Road and State Road 23 when the driver of a Chevy Impala turned left in front of a Denali.

The SUV struck the passenger side of the car, killing 93-year-old Jeanette Spaulding of South Bend. The driver of the Impala, an 81-year-old South Bend woman, suffered a minor injury.

The 43-year-old man driving the Denali suffered minor injuries, as well.

Both drivers cooperated with investigators.

The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team is handling the investigation.
