Huron-Manistee Forest, Michigan (Kim Closson)

More than $100 Million in federal ARPA funds will support the next round of DNR Parks Projects in Michigan.

The recreation projects will enable to Department of Natural Resources to take care of a number of needs at Michigan’s State Parks.

The Parks Director told WSJM that the governor proposed using $250 million of one-time federal dollars, and the legislature agreed.

Michigan has 103 state parks, all dependent on roads, utilities, buildings, structures, and environmental features that need to be brought up to date. The Parks Director says there has been some progress made, but plenty of work still needs to be done.
