A 22-year-old man from Albion has been arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated after a crash in Elkhart County.

The driver, Jesse Collins, was traveling along County Road 22, just after 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Sep. 13, drove off the road and collided with a fence post.

His vehicle came to rest in a field to the eastside of the road.

Prior to driving the vehicle, investigators with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office say Collins had consumed an intoxicating beverage.

A 20-year-old woman who was riding in his car was taken to Goshen Hospital for a complaint of neck pain.

Collins suffered minor cuts and was arrested on a preliminary O-W-I charge.

Police say he also has previous convictions for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.
