2022 Indiana taxpayer rebates will not be taxed

If you received a pair of taxpayer rebates last year, you may not have to pay federal tax on them.

That’s according to the IRS website.

Many residents received one rebate for $125 and a second for $200.

The first began showing up in June with the second round following in August.

In January, the Indiana Department of Revenue said it had not received guidance from the IRS on how to report the refunds, suggesting that they could potentially be considered taxable income for some.

But, Friday’s guidance from the IRS indicated that general welfare and disaster relief related payments would not be taxed.
