Vandalia man injured after collision with garbage truck

A Vandalia man was injured after he smashed into the back of a garbage truck.

The collision happened around 11:45 a.m. on on Oil City Road near M-62, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the initial investigation, the 40 year-old man was traveling northbound on Oil City Road when he failed to stop for a stationary Michiana trash truck driven by an Eau Claire man.

The car became lodged under the back of the garbage truck, upon impact.

The Vandalia man was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Factors into the collision remain under investigation.
