New details released regarding shooting that critically injured 8-year-old

There are new details in a South Bend shooting that left an 8-year-old girl fighting for her life.
Prosecutors have charged Tommy Arthur Gatheright, 18, with felony aggravated battery and criminal recklessness after they say he opened fire on a Lindenwood Avenue home, back on Aug. 17, along with another suspect known only as “Murda.”
Police say 37 shots were fired, hitting homes, cars, and two people. The girl was shot in the head and remains hospitalized. A second person was treated for a graze wound and released.
Detectives say witnesses identified Gatheright, and his phone contained messages about “dark,” “woods,” and “masks” the night of the shooting.
A gun recovered from a friend’s property matched shell casings found at the scene.
Prosecutors are asking for a higher-than-standard bond for Gatheright since he was already out on bond for another case.
