Neighborhood group orders shutdown of Indiana light display

WESTFIELD, Ind. (AP) — A homeowners association in Hamilton County has ordered the shutdown of a popular Christmas light display.

The Village Farms Homeowners Association said in a recent statement that the display outside a home in the Westfield neighborhood has become a nuisance to its neighbors. The association claims the display, called “Christmas on Victory,” is “hazardous” because it creates “a virtual parking lot” in the neighborhood.

The display features more than 400 decoration elements that are synchronized to music on a radio station. Homeowner Tom Lorek collects donations for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and other charities, raising more than $20,000 over the past six years.

Lorek plans to scale back this year’s display with static lights and no music.
