Elkhart County man arrested on DUI charge with 6-year-old daughter in the vehicle

A man in Elkhart County was arrested on Friday morning, July 24, after police say he was driving while under the influence with his 6-year-old daughter in the vehicle.

Deputies with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department were called at about 10:50 a.m. for a report of a domestic violence incident at a 7-Eleven gas station, according to Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department police records.

When they got there, police found 30-year-old Jake Damron and determined that he was driving while intoxicated. He refused a certified chemical test, according to the police records.

Damron was arrested on preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated and neglect of a dependent.

Damron’s daughter was released to her mother. Child Protective Services was notified.
