Amtrak worker dies after being burned in industrial accident at Indiana facility

BEECH GROVE, Ind. (AP) — An Amtrak worker has died after being badly burned at a facility in the Indianapolis area.

WXIN-TV and The Indianapolis Star report the worker was burned Saturday morning at a maintenance facility in Beech Grove. Amtrak President and CEO Joe Boardman said in a statement to employees Monday that the worker later died at a hospital.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the worker as 27-year-old Andrew Swanson of Fishers.

Boardman said the incident was an “industrial accident.” He said the company is investigating what happened to “prevent another such incident.”
