INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana University says a review of sexual misconduct cases handled by its former student ethics director has found they were conducted without “bias or undue influence.”

A retired IU law professor reviewed 17 sexual misconduct cases presided over by Jason Casares during the past academic year.

Casares resigned in February after a woman accused him of sexual assault at a conference in Fort Worth, Texas. Casares denies the allegation. Fort Worth police say the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.

Professor emerita Julia Lamber read the entire case file for each of the 17 sexual misconduct cases.

The university said Monday that Lamber concluded school rules were followed in each case, “ensuring a fair process,” and that Casares never pressured hearing officers into taking a particular position.
