A local food manufacturer has big dreams for a small town after announcing a $20 million investment in its Bristol plant.

Monogram Foods wants to make Bristol the “Corn Dog Capital of the World” by renovating and upgrading its facilities, according to the Elkhart Truth.

The company is investing $5 million to renovate and equip their 104,000 square-foot facility with a new mini corn dog production line. The facility just started producing mini corn dogs at the beginning of this year.

The other $15 million will go towards adding automation technology and a major expansion in 2018. In addition, Monogram Foods has 15 to 20 job openings and hopes to hire 25 more on top of that by the end of the year.

Monogram Foods’ Bristol plant makes over 1.7 million corn dogs and mini corn dogs a day. 80-percent of the private label corn dogs you buy in stores come from the Bristol plant, according to Founder and CEO Karl Schledwitz.
