Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb headed to Michiana for Toll Road ribbon cutting, South Shore Line talks

Governor Eric Holcomb is in town Tuesday for two big events.

First, the Indiana Governor heads to Granger, where he’ll cut the ribbon on the 80/90 PUSH Project. That’s the reconstruction of over 70 miles of the Indiana Toll Road, along with improving the safety of 53 bridges, from Lake Station to Elkhart.

Then, later in the afternoon, he’ll join Senator Todd Young and Representatives Jackie Walorski and Pete Visclosky and other officials for a roundtable discussion on the South Shore Line. A plan is in place to double-track the line to make travel from Chicago to South Bend faster, along with re-routing the South Bend entry point for more efficient service.

Anyone know what is really going on here? August 29, 2017 at 7:49 am

Why do we want to commit millions to the south shore? What is the gain for Hoosiers? Why does the entire state have to pay for a service very few in the north will use? Why is Indiana paying anything for a privately owned rail line to be improved (LOL). Chicago will be the only city that will benefit from this nonsense so why don’t they pay for it? Sounds like typical political self serving crap to me! The fact that Holcomb is involved makes it about a 99.999999% chance it really is a crap deal!
