A LaPorte man has been sentenced for transporting child pornography.

25-year-old Christopher Bangs was sentenced in federal court to a little over seven years in prison followed by five years of supervised release. He also was ordered to pay $27,500 in restitution to the six victims that were featured in his child pornography collection.

During a one month period in 2017, Bangs was found to have repeatedly uploaded and downloaded images and videos on the internet.

He admitted to possessing around 1,000 child pornography images and 50 videos, some of which federal prosecutors say contained “sadistic images” of children under the age of 12.
