Some Michigan drivers may be paying a hefty fine if they’re caught speeding in road construction zones.
Fines could be up to $300 if cameras catch them going more than 10 miles per hour over the speed limit.
The automated speed enforcement system would be a first for Michigan.
In the past, the state has mostly prohibited the use of cameras to issue speeding tickets.
If the bill passes, legislation would use the recordings from work zone cameras as evidence.
According to Bridge Michigan, the two-bill package is on the move after winning approval in the House Reform Committee on Tuesday. It’s now headed to the full House.
