SBPD Bomb Squad called to S. Main Street on report of suspicious device

The South Bend Police Department’s Bomb Squad has cleared the scene following the report of a suspicious item found outside a building in the 100 block of South Main Street.

The report was called in shortly after 1 p.m. on Friday, June 23.

The Bomb Squad determined the item was not a threat. It was identified as a piece of equipment left behind by a worker.

Though the item was ultimately not a danger to our community, police are reminding residents it’s always best to use an abundance of caution and call us when dealing with unknown items.
