There’s no word, yet, about the cause of a fire that claimed the life of a 64-year-old man in LaPorte County.

Emergency crews were called to the home around 7 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5, in the 200 block of South Longshore Drive near Lower Fish Lake. Upon arrival, first responders encountered heavy smoke, making it impossible to enter the home immediately.

After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters discovered the body of Ronald Conrad inside the dwelling.
