Michigan State University’s Rx Kids program expanding into Berrien County

Michigan State University’s Rx Kids program is expanding into Berrien County in partnership with the Berrien County Health Department. 

Beginning January 12, pregnant mothers in Benton Harbor, Niles, Buchanan and Benton Charter Township can apply to receive $1,500 during pregnancy and $500 per month for the first six months of their child’s life.

The program launched in Flint in 2024 and has already helped nearly 5,000 families with more than $20 million in support. State lawmakers committed $250 million to expand Rx Kids statewide.

Local leaders say the program strengthens family financial stability, improves maternal and infant health and supports healthier starts for babies. For more information, visit RXKids.org
