Crash involving deer sends four to hospital in Cass County

Four people, including two children, were injured in a single-vehicle crash in Cass County after a driver struck a deer.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 9:20 p.m. on Satursday, May 2, to M-40 in Porter Township.

Investigators say a 65-year-old female driver from Edwardsburg was traveling northbound when a herd of deer entered the roadway. The vehicle struck one of the animals, causing the crash.

A 38-year-old female passenger and two children were also in the vehicle at the time.

All four occupants were transported to Beacon Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
