Free wireless Internet will be installed in downtown South Bend in the coming weeks and could be up and running later this fall.

The network will go between LaSalle Avenue and Wayne Street on the north and south and Hill and William streets on the east and west, according to the South Bend Tribune.

Users will need to accept a user agreement to access the Wi-Fi network, which will be available outdoors and have very limited availability inside buildings. The network will have a content filter.

The city of South Bend is contributing $50,000 to the project, which comes in at a total $300,000. The Judd Leighton Foundation, enFocus and the James and Marjorie Wilson family is contributing the rest and the data hosting will be provided by the Union Station Technology Center.
